Cartouches
The Cartouches are finally out of the kiln! We glazed the clay cartouche in shades of green and blue to keep with the colors of Egyptian gems each students also wrote out their name in Heiroglyphs. In Egyptian times the cartouche was designated only for royalty. For the sake of this project we all then became Pharaohs and Queens of the Nile. The 9th agers really enjoyed experimenting with different tools to create new textures and designs in their clay.

Before & After Still Life Drawing
Here is the improvements of one student from Day #1 to finishing with pastels on Day #3. It is amazing to see how much he grew as an artist in such a quick window of time. You can see that upon coming back on the second day he began a new and really worked to lay out the still life correctly.

Art Worth a Hoot!

After working and working to curl papers the Owls are complete! The 7th Age spent 3 classes working on making their owls feathers as "fluffy" as possible. We also got to use a new medium: Oil Cray Pas, these helped to make our vibrant night skies. In the end the owls look great and really show all the 7th agers' patience and hard work.

Working ourselves down to the Bone!

The 8th Agers have been working on drawing X-Rays. This has taken a lot of concentration as well as help from our model, Mr. Bones! Starting with our skulls we traveled down the body bone by bone to our toes for our first page. On the second page the students had a chance to reposition the body into an active pose. We now have dancing skeletons, yoga skeletons and football playing skeletons, to name a few. On the final page we then got to dress our bones. Stay posted for the finished products!
