Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Chinese New Year is here! January 25th began the Asian celebration of the Year of the Ox. Both 7-i and 7-2 Read the story of "Chopsticks", a Chinese mouse who befriends a dragon who takes him on magical flying adventures around the world. The boys painted pillars and colored dragons with oil cray pas. Enjoy!

Watch out Jimmy Choo!

The shoes are finished and fantastic! This years group ranged from fur lined boots to tennis shoes, party shoes to flip flops and all turned out wild and wacky! We finished off our painting details with sequins, buttons and pompoms and then walked them down to the library to show off to the school.

Greek Coin Prints

The 9th age has been learning about printmaking as well as creating their own Greek Coins. The students first had to design Greek Coins using ancient examples to guide them. From there the 9th agers had to them carve their designs into Styrofoam from which we could then make three different prints from. Below are photos of the students working as well as the finished products. The end result looks fantastic!

Fabulous Shoe Art!

The shoes are being transformed, no longer are they cleats or party shoes but now they are "ART OBJECTS". Look for blogs to come with the finished products.

The Comedians of 10th Age

The boys of 10th age are putting their wit and good humor as well as artistic ability to good use for their latest art project. The boys had to create a main character and then build a cartoon story line around the character. The stories could be dramatic, comedic or just plain silly. Below are some characters ranging from Baby Mouse to Makeup Man to ice hockey players. The 10th agers interests as well as imagination really showed through with this art project.

Just Kickin' It in 8th Age

We have begun our shoe series. Here are a few samples of the colorful works going up outside the 8th age. For the first part of this project the students drew their own shoes and then filled it in colorfully. The second part we have just begun...painiting an old shoe from home.

Greek Orders of Architecture

Before the break the 9th agers began to work on replicating the three orders of Greek Architecture. Below are student examples of the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian Orders. For the 'Fourth Order' the 9th agers had the chance to create their own order, I've included two examples of the new orders as well as their names.
